Florida Gators
The fairytale that was Florida Gators’ run to their second national championship in three years last year should spur them on to attempt winning back-to-back titles for the first time in their history. After a memorable 13-1 season, which included fourth consecutive win over Tennessee and demolition of former coach Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina 56-6, Gators will look forward to Urban Meyer’s fifth season in charge with confidence. Despite losing key players to the NFL since the end of the season, including long snapper James Smith, Florida will be determined not to have a poor run as defending champions and avoid the disappointment of 2007. With Southeastern Conference securing a $55 million contract with CBS, Florida will defend their title in the most televised conference in the country come September.
